A Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter must practice several martial arts disciplines and combat sports to achieve a well rounded background to compete as an MMA fighter. Beyond the cardio, mindset training, and diet there are three main physical elements to fighting; stand-up striking (Boxing/Muay Thai/Kickboxing), the clinch (Wrestling), and ground fighting (Jiu-Jitsu/Wrestling).

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.
